friends of the oak ridge public library
The FOL was organized in 1959 to increase the opportunities for the association of persons interested in books and libraries; to increase the facilities and services of the Oak Ridge Public Library; and to enrich the cultural opportunities available to the citizens of the Oak Ridge area. They do this by selling books and other items several times a year at very low prices. They also have 2 Booknooks in the Library with materials available for sale all the time. Also by organizing and funding the children's summer programming, and by buying needed items for the Library that all outside the annual budget, such as the first two computers that appeared in the Main Library, and the Library security system gate.
